Join Dianne for this two day VIRTUAL event that will include videos, live classes, e-support materials, live Zoom meetings, as well as a private session with Dianne to learn about pregnancy! All women should know they can trust their bodies and pregnancy is the most important time to hone that skill. Come and learn some of the changes a pregnant body undergoes. Then, understand how to challenge and support that body through the various stages and scenarios which pregnancy brings. Even if pre-natal is not your interest or specialty, see how to excel when you do get a pregnant client - help make their birth strong!

Whether in NYC or abroad, you can now join Dianne for this experience! All aspects will be conducted virtually. If you are unable to make any portions of the workshop, recordings will be available for all!

Prenatal Pilates Mat Classes

The mat choreography will be presented LIVE via two separate mat classes. These classes will be different, they are not the same class! Participants may observe the class, or any portion of the class, but it is meant to be movement oriented. Props will be needed and are listed below (as well as appropriate substitutes). This class is intended for the pregnant client in the sense that it prepares her for the rigors of active labor and the demands of early motherhood. So, it will not necessarily be gentle, however, important modifications will be presented. Overall, the classes focus on strength and endurance building for the female body. Recordings to be downloaded will be distributed to all participants regardless of attendance. The mat classes are OPEN to non-workshop participants as well for $15/class (so spread the word! :)

Props needed for mat classes:

  1. Hand weights that are between 2-5 lbs appropriate for the movers’ body

Substitutes: Cans of soup, reusable water bottles

  2. Large physioball

    Substitute: table chair

  3. Couch

Substitute: low bench or low sturdy chair

  4. Brick

Substitute: firm thick book such as a medical textbook

Zoom Lectures

There are 5 hours of lecture time available with 2 - 30 minute Q&A periods built in for discussion over the two day period. This will be a combination of straight lecture with e-manuals and e-versions of support materials sent to the participants ahead of time. I will be screen sharing with the participants at certain times to show power point presentations and anatomical presentations when applicable. The participants will also receive access to view the Zoom Lectures for 7 days AFTER the workshop, November 15-November 21.

PRE-RECORDED VIDEOS

The equipment choreography portion will be presented in 4 videos that workshop participants will receive downloads of. These are intended to be yours to keep, but only yours (please :) The videos are divided into apparatus:

-Reformer Choreography

-Cadillac Choreography

-Chair Choreography

-Barrels

*One of the most important things to me is that participants actually see a pregnant client with this lens. So, there will also be one pre-recorded session with a prenatal client that the participants will have access to view for 7 days starting Friday November 13-Thursday November 19. This should not be downloaded, but notes from the sessions will also be included in the e-support materials.

PRIVATE SESSION

Private sessions will be offered to all participants who sign up prior to November 1, 2020. After that point, an additional $85 will be added to the workshop fee for this experience.* If you are in the NYC area and are able to come to elevate studio, the private can be in-person with the equipment. If you are not able to meet in studio the private will be via Zoom and comes with a download of the session. The private is meant to answer specific questions, go over specific scenarios, and clarify any modifications pertaining to workshop material. It is not meant to be a “private” in the sense of a session for the participants own body (unless they are pregnant!)

*You may opt out of the private session if registering after 11/1/20 and retain the $215 price. This is not desirable, however, because the private really personalizes the experience.

BREAKS

During the BREAK OR VIDEOS time frame each day participants have the time “off”. I will be playing the pre-recorded videos of client sessions and equipment choreography during these break times via Zoom. Participants are welcome to pop in and out of the time as they please, or not attend at all during those times as they will have access to the videos additionally. I do encourage all participants to take a screen break at some point during the time allotted.

Coffee Talk

Available exclusively to workshop participants, these two pre-mat class events are informal discussions about important topics. The first days topic is optimal birthing positions for the mom during active labor (we will discuss fetal positioning during the workshop Zoom lectures). It will also serve as a Welcome! The second days topic will be In Vitro Fertilization. Participants are encouraged to share their own experiences, whether it be personally or anonymously with a client. Attendance is not required. In honor of my own babies and pregnancies, where the only vice I really allowed myself was coffee (and bagels, but who can really have one without the other?! ;) I am happy to offer this! So, grab a coffee, or your preferred morning beverage, and settle in for an easy discussion pre-class.

~From Monday, November 9 through Friday, November 20, participants will be invited to a private Facebook group. This forum is available to engage in discussion or ask Dianne questions at any point in your study.  It is not required, of course.
